Got home today to find a neatly stacked pile of goodies including my X10. I can't wait to try it out!

I have tried on my Erdem tee, but as I've still not become overly inspired by it, I will probably be sending it back next week. It doesn't help that my mum got me a super cute blouse with an owl print and peter pan collar out of the blue whilst I was away that is so much nicer.

Mini Portfolio Launched

I've been working on what I'm now calling my mini portfolio which is as the name suggests, my portfolio of design work in miniature form which I designed specifically to integrate it within my blog.

One of the mentioned projects (pictured above) is Looking Glass magazine which is a Fashionable Literature magazine.
It's slightly lower quality, but you can view the full magazine here, I'd love to share it with you all as it's something that I've always wanted to continue on but haven't quite got around to, maybe I could turn it into an annual publication.

Fuji film X10

I finally took the plunge yesterday and got myself the Fuji X10 as soon as I saw it had dropped to a number beginning with a three and not a four...Gah I spent so much money yesterday!

I have to admit that this was a minor case of form over function. Luckily it has also had pretty good reviews, but I'll have to learn how to really make the most out of it.

I haven't used a digital camera now for quite of few years just my iPhone, Diana Mini or Instax instead. Hopefully this is an investment camera that I won't regret and I really look forward to posting images to the blog!

More Tee?

I loved this tee by Erdem for Topshop as soon as I saw it last week. I ordered it about an hour ago and now the website says it's out of stock, hopefully I got the last one! After experimenting with it a little, I've decided it will only really work in summer with crisp whites so I plan on teaming it with a white skirt. So now as well as stalking out Primark for the car print collection which is due to hit at the end of the month, I will now search out a white skirt to go with my Erdem tee. I can't wait for warmer weather when I might actually be able to wear some of these things. Gah.

I can't believe I've only just heard about Meadham Kirchhoff for Nail Rock, though in my defence I have always found nail wrap designs rather ugly. I adore these though, I really can't resist the cuteness with the exception of the one naughty one that they snuck in, I'll leave that one out methinks. I'll try to save one or two for my trip to Japan if I manage to get my hands on some (pun intended).

I can't find any shoes to wear on Saturday night!
I wish I had given in and ordered my black flatforms, but to be honest I'm not sure I'd be able to walk in them and they wouldn't get here in time now.
I work in the most pathetically limited town there could be, it barely scrapes a passable Debenhams, New Look and Primark together and calls itself a 'high street'. Gah!

I love this linen blouse from River Island, the colour makes the boyish cut look cute and girly. I'm considering it to wear with a bun and some lightweight trousers. To be honest though, now that they are complete, I'd probably swap todays two outfits around the other way.

I can't wait until the new Primark collection hits stores, I'm desperate (sad really) for one of the car print skirts, though I'm not sure which colour I should get if I do manage to get my hands on one next week when they hit stores. I've also seen I super cute floral dress with a blouse top that I want to get a better look at when the time comes.

After my last post about my floral trousers I decided to start thinking about what I might take with me to Japan in the summer. I've started planning early as always, and by the time it comes around I have no doubt some things will certainly change but I have tried to plan on what I could take with me that I already own based around the activities we have planned. So I've started from day two, which will be the first day of actual holidaying, rather than journeying!
I really want a new camera before I go so I have to cut back if I can on spending money on clothes for the trip. Besides, I really do have more than enough already in my wardrobe that could be updated and like everyone else, there's a lot of things I've only ever had the chance to wear once.

I couldn't wait to wear these cosy trousers when I got them on my lunch break yesterday. I picked them up thinking they'd be perfect for the long flight to Japan, especially because they're a very light material. They're also ideal for when I have a day at home and know I should get out of my pyjamas but don't really want to, so basically all my days off at the moment! Trouble is I'm never convinced with what shoes to pair with harem trousers like this, especially in the winter when I don't really want cold feet (gladiators would normally be my choice) and heels with harem trousers make me gag, I'm sorry but whatever people tell you, it does not work! Well that's my opinion at least. Here's what the rest of me is wearing today, even if I have nothing on my feet.

Why have ASOS decided to mock me today with the perfect flatforms, only to design them in ridiculous colours that won't go with anything at all. All I can think of is how perfect a pair of these would be for work. FAO ASOS: Black Please!

By the way does anyone know how well ASOS shoes fit? I never buy shoes normally without trying them, with the exception of my Vivienne Westwood Melissa's. I'm being cautious because of the shape of the front of the shoe, New Look shoes in this style are particularly tortuous to my poor toes.

So I realise that most of you won't really know much about me apart from what you've seen so far on my blog. I figured I better introduce myself, better late than never etc.

I'm Rebecca, I live in the UK near London and I'm a graduate with a degree in Fashion Promotion.
I have green eyes, pale skin and I'm left handed. Magic!
I love books and stories, japanese culture and history. I've always preferred the past to the present and have developed quite a nostalgia for anything from my own childhood. I also have quite an obsession with make up, I will start posting my reviews soon.

I started a sketch book way back in 2007, it was supposed to be for the 365 project, but I found I didn't quite have enough inspiration in me to fill up a page every single day of the year. I refused to give up on the book until it was finally complete and now finally, five years later it is full (I should have got a smaller book!)

The images themselves aren't great works of art, I'm no more than a doodler but the book has become really special to me because it's more like a coded diary that I used to document my life, the crazy dreams I'd had or the book or music that I enjoyed at the time.

Movie day today with the boyfriend. Got through Winters Bone, Gran Torino and Zodiac, which is a part of my dvd collection already but he hasn't seen it before. He's spent the entire movie on wikipedia telling me whats inaccurate about it, hah. That (and drinking tea from my star sign mug) made me sit and think about ideas for an outfit inspired by my own star sign, so here it is.

I hope I'm not the only person who spend months in advance (from the moment I've booked the flights to be exact) imagining my perfect holiday wardrobe. The trouble with being so eager (apart from the fact that I'm clearly wiped out from booking the holiday itself still) is that it's the completely wrong time of year to be preparing for a holiday that doesn't actually take place until August...

My split personality when it comes to my wardrobe however, seems to spring eternal. In my mind I would love to be able to pull off the boho/hippie vibe but in truth it just doesn't work for me, and never has. As much as we had a good run, or not as the case may be I think I'm finally maturing and accepting this fact. I just can't pull off anything that isn't prim, proper, or down-right childish. The warmer months are especially cruel to my wardrobe, and I look terrible a good 85% of the time between march and october. I just can't pull off summer, but this year I'm determined to improve and not spend the best part of the summer hiding in my room under a pile of failed attempts at getting dressed.

What I'm Wearing: (500) Days of Autumn

I can't deny that 500 Days of Summer is still as good now as when I first watched it, and I always draw so much inspiration from this movie, even the soundtrack is still one of my iPod favourites.

It's a little harder to channel summer today though, so I decided to put my own twist on autumn by layering my favourite Zara knit, with my rust coloured dress from last summer. I'm off for a coffee with my best bud later, and hopefully I'll still be snug, despite the weather turning a little warmer this week.

Preview: My Wardrobe Spring 2012

I'm already thinking forwards to summer now that I have my holiday all planned out (minus a passport...) It comes as no surprise really that I have included this in my inspiration for my spring wardrobe updates.

I love the mermaid inspiration that's all over the catwalk this year, it's dreamy, girly and pretty. I know I probably won't be pulling off a metallic mermaid tail though, so I've taken the odd piece to update from where the previous summer left off.

Comfort, for once is also playing on my mind a lot this year. I'm fed up of feeling (and looking) squeezed into ill fitting items that seemed like a great idea at the time but then go to the charity shop within a few months. Holiday wise, we've picked a really hot and humid time of year to be travelling, and with one of the longest flights imaginable to look forward to, so really I'd rather pay a little more than I normally would so that I actually get some wearability out of my clothes.

Harajuku Lovers

I'm making the most of my lunch breaks this week by collecting the Harajuku Lovers Summer collection of Sunshine Cuties.
I saw they were only £5, and that was before my lovely discount so my excuse started off as "they're small so they'll fit in my bag/locker/sock" but now it really is just greed and true to Gwen Stefani and her Harajuku line, I have a definite attraction to cuteness.
If they last long enough I'll pack one of them to come with us on our holiday in August (more on that later).

I know I have been meaning to get this blog up and running for months now, since I graduated infact.
To be honest blogging is almost so popular now that I wasn't sure what the point of this really was really going to be. But I admit I really miss having somewhere to put my thoughts into, even if nobody is reading.
